TRAVEL, NEAR AND FAR
These dispatches pair photographs with the story behind them: what drew my attention, what was worth the detour, and what made each place feel distinct.
CALIFORNIA / FEBRUARY 2026
Five photographs. One road west.
California changed character quickly: quiet desert rock in the morning, the Malibu coast by midday, and Santa Monica glowing after sunset. These are the five frames that best hold the route together.
The coastal road delivered the first expansive Pacific view of the trip.
Desert stillness, hard light, and rock formations that seem to change by the minute.
A walk beneath the rock arches at low tide was easily worth the steep path down.
The pier shifting into evening colour as the Ferris wheel came alive.
The kind of sunset that makes everyone stop facing inland.
MEXICO / SEPTEMBER 2025
Four photographs. Two unforgettable days.
Mexico City moved at full volume: monumental architecture, crowded streets, a memorable meal, and then the open scale of Teotihuacán. The route felt both intensely urban and deeply connected to history.
The Palacio de Bellas Artes made a fitting first landmark: grand, intricate, and impossible to hurry past.
A view from the street captures the city’s energy, with flags overhead and Torre Latinoamericana pulling the eye forward.
A pause for taquitos, guacamole, and the kind of meal that becomes part of the itinerary.
The Pyramid of the Sun filled the frame and still felt larger than the photograph could hold.

Six photographs. One remarkable museum.
Space Center Houston turned engineering history into something tangible: flown hardware, the shuttle carrier aircraft, mission control, and small artifacts that made the scale of the work feel personal.
The shuttle and carrier aircraft make an unforgettable first impression and an even better lesson in scale.
Scorched surfaces and weathered metal made the history feel physical instead of abstract.
Inside the carrier aircraft, the long line of windows turned a massive machine into a human space.
A small Saturn V pin became the compact souvenir of a very large day.
Looking straight into the end of the stage revealed a geometry that side views hide.
The flight plan display brought the quiet concentration behind Apollo into focus.
VANCOUVER / CLOSE TO HOME
Five photographs. Four seasons nearby.
Vancouver rewards repeat visits. Water, mountains, neighbourhood landmarks, and changing light keep familiar places from feeling finished. They make local days worth documenting too.

Evening light settled across the harbour as the city shifted toward night.
